Round the Island River Cruiser Race Saturday 20th August 2016
The race starts and finishes at Somerleyton. Start times to be confirmed on the day before 9am to Peter Lowes OOD or to Will Armour on Friday evening.
Supper at the Dukes Head.
Fish and Chips OR Bangers and Mash £10.50 per head. Desserts available for an extra charge.

Annual Inspection
The Green Wyvern Yachting Club is a recognised RYA Training Centre and as such we have an Annual Inspection, which was carried out earlier in the week by Sue Head. It covers all aspects of the work of the club, such as:
- Records of the qualifications of Instructors and Senior Instructors and correct Instructors/students ratios;
- All aspects of our Safety Procedures, including safety of boats, First Aid equipment and training, Children and Vulnerable Adult Safeguarding training and arrangements, DBS Checks are compliant;
- The quality of training and teaching meets requirements; and
- The administration of the club is efficient.
I am delighted to say that we passed with ‘flying colours’ and that we are ‘Fully Compliant’ with all the requirements of the RYA and that we have no actions that we need to take this year. This is our third ‘Fully Compliant’ inspection.
I am so grateful to previous Chief Instructors, Pip Thompson and Mark Wells, who worked so hard on the format of our Operating Procedures. Our Skippers, First Mates and Mates, give so much time, not only for club cruising but also to attend training to become Assistant Instructors, Instructors and Senior Instructors. (The instructor Course, for example takes eight days of training and is quite a commitment if you only get four weeks holiday a year.)
My thanks to all boat owners who loan their boats to us and to the Committee who do so much of the unseen work of the GWYC and I am grateful for their time and commitment to the club. In particular, Stephen as our new Sailing Secretary has done a brilliant job organising the cruising, Treasurer, Trevor, deals very efficiently with the financial aspects of the club and Rosemary as secretary has collated all the records and required paperwork for the Inspection. Finally, Andy is a wonderful Commodore and RYA Principal, with his boundless energy, enthusiasm and support he provides the leadership so that we can continue to bring so many young people sailing on The Broads.
